4 Functional Ideas For Your Kitchen Redesign Project

Blog

Looking to redesign and revamp your kitchen space? If so, then you'll want to make design decisions that are both visually appealing and functional. If you're not sure where to begin when it comes to unique and functional kitchen design ideas, there are some great options to consider for your upcoming project.

1. Pull-Out Cabinet Shelving

Have you ever dealt with the hassle of rummaging around your cabinets, trying to find a pot or pan that's hidden way in the back? If so, then consider eliminating this common kitchen frustration by installing new cabinets that are equipped with pull-out shelving. With these types of cabinets, the inner shelves are mounted on rollers so they can be easily pulled out as needed. This allows you to access the contents in the back of the cabinets without the hassle.

2. Under-Cabinet Lighting

Another option to consider is that of installing task and/or mood lighting underneath your kitchen cabinetry. This can be a great way to add ambiance to your kitchen space while also serving the functional purpose of adding useful lighting. This lighting can come in handy when you're prepping food for a meal.

3. Built-In Cutting Boards

These days, it is also possible to find kitchen cabinetry options with built-in cutting boards that simply slide out from the top of the cabinet or underneath your countertop. You can have one of these mounted in the same area where you normally do your prep work, saving you valuable space inside your cabinets or drawers. These cutting boards come in a variety of sizes and materials, and they can also be detached for easy cleaning.

4. Pull-Out Trash Bin

Tired of looking at an unsightly trash can in your kitchen or dining space? If so, and if you don't have room to move your trash bin to a cabinet underneath your sink or elsewhere, consider upgrading to a pull-out trash bin in your kitchen. These can also be found as part of your cabinetry options, so you'll want to consider this add-on feature if you plan on upgrading your existing kitchen cabinetry as part of your redesign project.

These are just a few ideas to keep in mind if you're thinking about redesigning your kitchen with functionality and usefulness in mind. Not only will these upgrades make your kitchen more enjoyable to use, but they may also add some value to your home in the process.

Choosing A Remodeling Theme

After I started focusing more seriously on making over my home, I realized that there were a few things I needed to do. For starters, I realized that I needed to go through and work with a professional to rework the space. We talked about things like workflow and the initial impression of the space, and it was great to hear someone else's opinion of what needed to happen. Within about six months, the entire area was completely finished, and I was really happy with how things turned out. This blog is all about choosing a remodeling theme when you are making over your home.
