A Few Tips To Make Your Bathroom More Pleasant

Blog

If you groan every time you walk by or into your bathroom, it is probably time to do a bit of remodeling. While a bathroom is not a major area of the house, it is an area where guests may visit. In some aspects, it is considered a private area, a place where you store medicines and personal hygiene items. However, it is also an area where people tend to snoop a bit to get a bit of insight into who you are. Like a kitchen, it gets dirty or messy regularly and needs to be cleaned daily. To stop your groaning, and make the bathroom a room that brings a smile to your face, consider the following tips for remodeling.

Toilet Placement

The toilet should not be the first thing you see or notice when you walk into or by the bathroom. Of course, if it currently is, moving it can be a problem. Try placing a counter or half-wall in the room to hide it if possible. If you can move it a foot or two you might be able to hide it behind the door.

Start Slow

If you have a small budget and find that everything you want to do is too expensive, start off slow. Instead of buying a new sink cabinet, paint or refinish the one you have. You can also get new towel racks or rods for a low price and change out things like door pulls, faucets, shower curtains, rugs, and towels to give the place a mini "facelift."

Add Wall Shelves and Cabinets

If the bathroom is small, use higher wall space for storage. A simple shelf or wall cabinet can hold a couple of towels or toiletry items out of the way yet keep them accessible for use. A good spot is behind the toilet for items that need to be kept dry. However, don't add so many shelves that the room appears crowded as this will make it look even smaller.

Choose a theme or a color scheme and go with it. A few small touches can make a bit difference. Don't be afraid to add a few decorations or even some patterns in the walls or floor tiles too. Your bathroom should be a place you can take a nice, relaxing bath, and use it to get ready for work or a night out. However, keep in mind that guests will also use the room so you want it to be organized and nice looking. As you walk by, look in and make sure you aren't groaning at what you see.

Choosing A Remodeling Theme

After I started focusing more seriously on making over my home, I realized that there were a few things I needed to do. For starters, I realized that I needed to go through and work with a professional to rework the space. We talked about things like workflow and the initial impression of the space, and it was great to hear someone else's opinion of what needed to happen. Within about six months, the entire area was completely finished, and I was really happy with how things turned out. This blog is all about choosing a remodeling theme when you are making over your home.
